3.2009 - An Emission Control System, using today’s most advanced technology, has been installed and first operated at Mediplast. It consists of a catalytic burner for the processing of the ETO evacuated from the sterilizers at the end of the sterilization cycle. The device performs a catalytic decomposition (and oxidation) of the ETO (stored in the buffer tank as a solution in cooled water) into water and CO2. The facility is compliant with the requirements of the Ministry for Environmental protection based on the strictest European standard regarding permitted ETO emission levels to the atmosphere. The operation of this facility completely avoids the negative impact of the ETO sterilization process on the environment.
